1. The Divine Message - Message From Poojyashree Shree Amma - The Ultimate Liberator Bestowed By Lord Shri Krishna!

A tree which generates seeds does not think about its germination or its growth. It rains at a different instance and ultimately the seed germinates and grows up to become a tree on its own. But we conclude that the tree has automatically taken roots despite our lack of efforts. But the fact is that Lord has sown the seed, watered it by producing rain and has allowed it to germinate. Despite that the Lord, the tree or the soil does not take pride in the growth of the new seed. So if we sow a seed, it will germinate on its own will. Who are we to determine the growth? Do we not have expectation due to the pride of sowing the seed and expecting it to sprout at our will?

 We take lot of pride in declaring things that are going to happen and things that will not happen. We must then imagine what would happen if the Lord decides to take pride in each of His activities. Just notice how he has placed our noses closer to our mouths. This helps us smell nice things and relish them using our mouths. At the same time if a foul smelling thing comes near us we don't even think about eating it. This is true not only of humans but also true of animals like goat, cows and is true of birds as well. Did anyone propose this design to God to place the mouth near the nose? The Lord could have placed the nose on our heads, on our cheeks or next to ears. But why has he not done so?

Lord has done so much and is doing so much on an ongoing basis but on any occasion has He not on any occasion thought that He is the doer of things and taken pride in them? The Lord is giving in bounty and we are giving it back in tiny bits and that too with many expectations. Let's suppose we assume that digestion does not happen will we not be able to consume next day's meal? The Lord is also ensuring that the food not only is digested but is transformed into the desired energy that our body needs. In addition to this, He has designed such that the waste is also excreted appropriately. What a beautiful design and how amazing is Lord's creation. 

But humans alone take so much pride in their activities. People proclaim that they have renonunced everything and the very statement reveals that they have not given up anything. We should not even have the thought that we have given up everything and that is true renounciation. There is a saying that goes like this "Did I do a total surrender like Draupathi" . There is no one other than Draupathi who is more devoted to Krishna. Even she comes to the Lord as a last resort. Have we totally surrendered ourselves to the Lord like she did? 

We take pride in sharing our things with others. It is unnecessary to reject or repel things that the Lord has provided us and instead enjoy it as His blessings. It would have struck people that I wear silk sarees and gold ornaments. Why should I reject these offered by the Lord? I have no right to reject them and If I do reject it means that pride has set in. Why should I take pride in rejecting what the Lord has to offer me? He is taking care of my welfare and will accept everything as His grace as I am His child.


 It is fortunate to listen and be blessed to Guruji Amma
's Sathsangam through phone irrespective of one's domicile in any nook and corner of this universe and many more souls should yearn to enjoy this bliss! Since people are easily tempted to the uncivilized activities and are trapped in the web of movies, television programmes and some unpleasant magazines, more and more Sathsangams should be encouraged and attended to keep oneself engaged in the union of the Almighty, which is the only eternal truth. Just as hills are made of hard stones alone and its originality cannot be replaced, likewise Bhagawaan is the eternal truth and at a stage each one realizes this truth. Its no compulsion and even those who have disassociated will realize this truth. Such is the greatness of Bhakthi and Naamasankeerthana. Since, Naamasankeerthana is the Kali Yuga Dharma, there is no match to it. Radhekrishna!



2. Mahatmas - New Bhaktacharitras Each Month

India is the holy land with so many bhaktas (devotees). When we go through the Indian history, there must be a bhakta in every period. That is the greatness of this sacred land. Bhaktas are the role model for all the bonded souls. They enjoy their life in a perfect way. Bhaktas surrender themselves to the Lotus feet of Lord. By hearing or reading bhaktas' divine story, the bonded soul is enlightened to come out of the worldwide bondages.

Radhekrishna! Sincere chanting and listening to the great stories of devotees will surely give a peace of mind to everybody, even in this 21st century. So many people think that listening to the devotee's stories is a waste of time and there is no benefit at all. If somebody wants to realize the power of bagawan, first of all they must listen bhaktha charithram [stories of devotees]. There are so many advantages in listening to baktha charithram.

Bharath is a very special land and contained within it are sacred places and rivers. Devotees born in this sacred Bharath ensure that they propagate bhakti in all corners of the country. This is the precise reason why the fragrance of bhakti can be felt all around our country. Thirumangai Azhwar was visiting all the sacred places around this country. Whilst on pilgrimage around the country he visited the sacred town of Srirangam.

RadheKrishna.. Bhaktas understand the mercy showered by the Lord. They are able to realise this mercy since they are ever associated with the Lord. Everyone of us as well have a constant association with the Lord but since we don't long for the Lord's words or His actions we are unable to understand and appreciate God's will or actions. If we understand the actions and the will of the Lord then we will begin to appreciate and enjoy life. Life is to be lived for the sake of the Lord.

Tirumangai azhwar's life was dedicated to serving the Lord. Hence he stole the buddha statue and hid it in the farmland. The tamarind tree, bound by true faith, woke the azhwar up as per his request. 

In one instance, Kulasekara azhwar declares that bhaktas will never steal Lord's ornaments and to establish that he places his hands in a pot that had a poisonous snake in it. The snake, bound by truth, did not harm the azhwar there by proving his point. Mahatmas at every stage have declared and established the nature of truth.

Even in Kaliyuga a great bhakta declared that the power of chanting of Lord's name will never fail to yield results. The fact was rejected by the rest of the pandits. The mahatma again proclaimed that by chanting the Lord's name no harm will ensue even if we happen to dip our hands in hot oil. The pandits refused to believe and asked the mahatma to prove what he had proclaimed. The mahatma by chanting the names of the Lord dipped his hand in hot oil and as he had proclaimed and nothing happened to his hands. Truth is always truth but the fact is that the world is not ready to accept it in most occasions.

The tamarind tree was bound by the truth that the azhwar believed in and woke him up by shedding its leaves. Every species will try to save itself from ruin but the same species are ready to give itself up for the sake of true bhaktas. The azhwar realised that the tree had woken him up and blessed the sleepless tree. The azhwar then ran up to the farmer and asked how he was ploughing his land. The farmer declared that the land belonged to his forefathers and that he had every right to plough. Tirumangai azhwar retorted that the land belonged to his own forefathers. The farmer said that he had the documents to prove that the land belonged to him. The azhwar replied back that he too had documents indicating that the land was owned by him. Tirumangai azhwar is ready to cross all boundaries due to the love he had for Lord Rangantha. 

Lord Renganatha

Shastras declare that hell will befall people who steal, who lie and who grab other people's posessions. The azhwar is ready to sacrifice his own happiness, gains and pride for the sake of serving the Lord. This is selfless bhakti and bhakti for the sake of bhakti. Lord Rangantha Himself was shedding tears of joy on finding that the azhwar is ready to cross all boundaries for the sake of Him. The Lord should be pleased by our actions and if that happens then we need not worry about anything in life. The farmer decided to call justice into action and brought this case in the local court. The court asks azhwar that how is claiming ownership of the land as he seemed new to this town and does not to have any roots. The azhwar says that he possessed the necessary documents indicating that he owned the land. The farmer in turn showed up with his documents which proved the possession held by him. The court then requested azhwar to show his documents to come to any conclusion. The azhwar said that the documents were lying in Srirangam and that he needed a day to bring them to the court. The azhwar also requested that the farmer should not plough until the time he comes back. The farmer thought that this was due to his past karma and decided not to plough for a day. The statue was safe in the soil as the farmer had decided to wait until the azhwar comes back. Such court cases are classified as never ending ones. 
Tirumangai Azhwar

The azhwar begins to roam in the town and he felt thirsty as a result. The azhwar notices some ladies drawing water from the well and decides to request them to provide him some water. The ladies were apprehensive of the azhwar and decided to move away from that place with their water pots. The Lord Himself became angry as a result of a true bhakta being refused water and His anger resulted in the well drying up. When people refer to Thirukannankudi they usually refer to these three things - "Sleepless Tamarind Tree, Never ending court case and the dried up well. Even today however deep a well is dug results only in salt water which is unusable. The only source of drinking water in the town even now is the well that is inside the temple. The azhwar was roaming the town until about dusk. The azhwar felt tried as he was going on without any food or water. The azhwar was waiting for night to set in so that he could recover the buddha statue and proceed further.

When night set in a local police officer approached the azhwar and asked who he was. The azhwar replied that he was a passerby and asked the person who he was. The police offier just said that he was a passerby as well and moved on. The officer returned and then handed over some food and water for the azhwar to consume.The azhwar felt elated, ate to his heart's content and decided to thank the officer. The azhwar was stunned to see in dim moon light that the officer was none other than the Lord who was moving clad in silk and was moving with his conch and chakra. The azhwar cried that he could not realise the fact that the Lord had appeard in person. He also repented that if he had proclaimed to be bhakta then the Lord would have blessed him and since he proclaimed to be a passerby, the Lord also passed by without his notice. 

There is a very similar incident that can be noted in Tulsidas' Ramcharitamanas. Anjaneya first meets Lord Rama and after some discussions realised that he is none other than Lord Rama. Anjaneya then asks Lord Rama that he is a simple monkey and so is very natural to forget the Lord. But how is that the all pervading Lord forgot his own child and failed to indicate in the first place that he was Lord Rama. The Lord smiled and no sooner did Anjaneya realised his mistake. Anjaneya declared that he came disguised as a brahmin and that is the reason why the Lord choose not to reveal Himself. Hence at all times we should always try to remain as a true devotee of the Lord. At all times and at all places if we remain as a bhakta, as a child and as a servant to the Lord and these thoughts alone will lead to a zero loss scenario. 

Tirumangai azhwar was elated that the Lord himself came in person to feed him. Night had set in and so the azhwar removes the statue from the field and proceeds towards Srirangam. Even today in Thirukannankudi no lawsuits are settled and is a sacred town enjoyed by the azhwar himself. We must realise the intensity of bhakti the azhwar had towards the Lord. The attitude of the local population angered the Lord himself that he made sure that all drinking water gets dried up. We must realise the love that the Lord had for his bhaktas. True bhakti never faces destruction. Why not we try to be a true bhakta for a day or even for a minute? Let us all pray that we should at least for a day live like how Tirumangai azhwar had lived. It is then only we will realise the depth of true bhakti.

3. Krishnam Vande Jagadhgurum - Extracts From The Holy Bhagawath Geetha

Radhekrishna.Hinduism is an ancient religion. All the things that have been spoken in Hindu religion can be applied in practical life. Although in 21st century till everyone can apply this in his or her daily life. The aim of Hindu religion is to provide total happiness to everyone at all times (or any point of time). The essence of Hinduism is told in "Bhagawad Gita". In order to realize what is said in Bhagawad Gita it is a compulsory (must) to have an unconditional faith on Bhagawad Gita. So many people have benefited in their lives because of the (by reading) shlokas of Bhagawad Gita. In Bhagawad Gita, Bhagawan Shri Krishna has told the way to lead a happy life in such an easy way that even a normal layman can easily understand. The slokas are so simple that anyone can understand and use it practically.

Lord of all worlds wants humans to enjoy a blissful life and hence He is talking to each of them. He talks as appropriate to each of the individual souls so as to give comfort to it. If we observe closely, all of us are speaking but the same speech at all times can't be guaranteed to give comfort to the listeners. What is comforting to one need not be soothing to others and is equally difficult to speak in a way that would be appreciated by one and all. If we observe all our languages there are numerous dialects and convey a variety of meanings depending on the usage. Similarly there are languages spoken by birds and animals. All of these languages are known to Lord Krishna. He speaks in such a way that would give comfort to the individual soul. 

The way Lord spoke to Prahalad and the meanings He conveyed was unique to the child. Similarly the message and the tone that the Lord used as Sri Hari to another child, Dhruv was totally different. Again the way Lord Krishna spoke to gopis before Rasakreeda and the way He spoke to him after they sung Gopika Geetham was again unique to them. Similarly the way Krishna spoke to the brahmin wives (Viprapathnis) was again unique by itself. Lord when He spoke to Uddhava was in a class of its own. Also the way Krishna spoke to Dhithrudrastra as a messenger for Pandavas, the way He spoke to Kunti and Uttara was comforting to each of them in its own way. In Ramayana the way Rama spoke to Guga, Laxmana and Sita was totally different to all of the above. The tone in which the Lord said to Ravana to go and come back tomorrow to fight was entirely different as well. The same Lord when requested by Vibheeshana to give refuge spoke to him in a comforting tone.

The Lord does not have any shortcomings and He is the only one with such a quality. The same Lord now speaks to Arjuna and to all the future souls who would have his heart and desire. This is the suprising thing. Generally teachings of a particular age would be hard pressed to find its relevance in a totally different age. In olden days people used to walk but we are not using vehicles to travel. Life has changed so much including the way we eat, dress etc. Despite all these changes the Lords teachings are still applicable because he used Arjuna as an instrument to convey comforting lectures to all souls of all ages. He thinks about the millions of souls and then only delivers his speech.

Generally humans speak in a irrelevant and useless manner and introduce unwanted words in our speeches. But the teachings of the Lord don't contain even a single bit of information that can be discarded. People speak in a sarcastic way, in a way that hurts others, in a negative way and there is no use of such words for any one. But the Lord's words are not like our speech. Krishna's lecture was comforting to Arjuna, to Anjaneya who was listening from the chariot's flag, to Sanjaya and Dhithrudrastra as well. Bagawad Gita stands as an example for eternal truth. This is the only reason why we find relevance in its teachings. People's tastes might differ in their food habits in their dress sense etc but everyone has to accept the teachings of Gita because it can comfort everyone. Hence the Lord proclaimed that by doing one's karma one can attain a good state. The Lord speaks beautifully on noticing that Arjuna is looking for even a simpler option.

The Lord initially instructed Arjuna to surrender his mind. If that is not possible He instructed him to do Karma for Him. As a simpler option, Lord says to give up the fruits of all activities (Sarva Karma Phala). We must notice that he did not say to give up karma but just the fruits of those karmas or actions. We argue with someone and get defeated in the process. We should even treat this as karma and dedicate it to the Lord. In case if we had won the argument, then also we should give up the victory to the Lord. Karma is never ending and does not end even if one dies. People think that karma comes to an end with death. That is never the case. The body alone departs but the soul remains . If the soul remains then its tendency to perform karma will also remain. If we go to heaven or the Lord's abode as well then we have to perform some karma. What karma can remain when we attain mukthi?. We need to sing the glories of the Lord, chant His names and perform pooja to Him. If we go to hell then we have to experience suffering and that is a kind of karma. If we come to earth then some work has to be done in one way or the other. Even if we end up as a lion then the karma of eating, mating, sleeping has to be performed. If we end up as birds then we have to fly and if we end up as trees we have to sprout and all these are karmas. Hence there is no point running away from karmas but what is best is to give up the fruits of those karmas. Even in sanyasa the karma of praying to the Lord for the wellbeing of all has to be performed. Mahatmas declare that it is a sin to run away from one's karma. Hence it is merely enough if we give up the fruits of those actions. With all sincerity we should declare to the Lord that this is the fruit of such and such activity and I dedicate this to You without any further binding. The best example is that when we excrete we no longer assocaite ourselves with the byproduct of excretion. In a similar sence we should remain aloof from the fruits of that karma. Seven Hills of Tirupati

It is sufficient if we attain the state of bhakti as that of Kulasekara azhwar. Bhakti means mingling ourselves mentally with the Lord. We often question whether it is possible to do bhakti at all times and in all circumstances. These songs in praise of Tirumala stand as a testimony that it is possible to enojy bhakti at all times. It is possible to do bhakti whilst being a stone, a passage, a fish , a bird or a useless tree. Many people repent that they have not acheived or attained anything in life. But according to Kulasekara azhwar doing bhakti is foremost among all. In general when mahatmas conclude a work describe the benefits that one can derive out of them. Similarly Kulasekara azhwar sings these 10 songs on the sanctity of Tirumala and describes the benefits of us reading these songs. What is the happiness if someone eats, or sleeps well? Inorder that these work be not classified in that category, the Lord through bhaktas proclaim the benefits of reading these holy works. After every major work the azhwars had the habit of describing the benefits (Phalasruthi) that one can derive out of them. The tradition is there so that we can enjoy the same bliss that the azhwars enjoyed.

The azhwar describes Tirumala as the sacred hills depicting the boundary of Tamil Nadu and is cool in nature. Today people from hot areas go to Ooty , Kodaikanal, Darjeeling or to foreign lands that enjoy a cool climate. But these places can only cool the body but will not provide any comfort to the soul. But unlike these places, chilness in Tirumala not only comforts the body but also cools the soul as well. Generally what ever comforts the body need not comfort the soul, Tirumala enjoys this unique combination of cooling down the body and the soul. Kulasekara azhwars excels in both bhakti and in warfare. Generally if one excels in bhakti he might not excel in wordly affairs and viceversa but Kulasekar azhwar excels in both spheres.

The azhwar declares that anybody who realises the true meaning of the ten songs will be declared a truly realized bhaktha. This means that we can attain a permanent state where we stay as Lord's child and His treasure. In other words, reading these songs will result in Lord Himself being pleased and accepting us as His child. Hence those beings who perfectly understand these songs will be declared as bhakthas whom the Lord Himself would claim ownership of them. Food, fruits have to be in a certain consistent state to be consumed and so do young people who are waiting to get married.. Similarly those who recite these divine songs will attain that mature elevated to the state to be declared a complete bhakta.

Thus far we enjoyed the eleven songs (Perumal Thirumozhi) of Kulasekar azhwar and in coming months we shall enjoy more of the azhwar's songs(pasurams). With out any doubts, the recitiation and continuous recollection of these songs can make one progress in the path of bhakti .

Radhekrishna Radhekrishna; by the great blessings and gratefulness of Guruji and Gurujiamma adiyal is writing my experience. With heart full of delight and pleasure adiyal also had given the name and tour fare for booking and going to Brindavan trip in January 07 itself. In fact our trip was on 7th of April. On March 20th all of a sudden my husband had intolerable stomach ache. We went to the doctor and he gave a few pills, but there was no improvement. So the doctor recommended for sonography without a delay. After considering the same he recommended to admit my husband at once and must go for a surgery, as he had an acute appendicitis which ought to be removed instantly. So we admitted him immediately and the very next day morning he had his operation which was a laparoscopic surgery.

By Guruji Amma’s grace he recovered and was discharged in five days. The doctors asked him to take rest for a week and then he can resume his work. But when we came home, unexpectedly after two days his stomach started paining extremely. The doctors gave medicines but even then he was not feeling better. Then we called up Gurujiappa in Chennai and got the medicines as per appa had prescribed. He started feeling much better after having Gurujiappa’s medicines. There were only three more days left for Brindavan trip. By the blessings and kindheartedness of Gurujiamma and Guruji he was absolutely in good health, and resumed his job. Then he permitted me to go to Brindavan and by the grace of Gurujiamma and Guruji adiyal also enjoyed the trip! Radhekrishna !!!

Tiruvaranga Perumal Araiyar

The great soul Tiruvaranga Perumal Araiyar was one of the great disciples of Alavandar and one of the five gurus of Sri Ramanuja. 

The great bhaktha, true to Arayar tradition, immersed himself in eternal bliss singing songs from azhwar's divya prabhandams and dacing in front of Lord Ranganatha. 

The great devotee on orders from Lord Ranganatha sang Tirupaavai in front of Lord Varadaraja of Kanchi and brought Sri Ramanuja to Srirangam.

The great teacher who pleased by devotion and service of Sri Ramanuja explained to him "Aacharya Rahasiyam" (Secret of Guru).

The learned devotee composed a daniyan (a Song in praise) on Thondaradipodi azhlwar after he was spellbound by azhlwar's hymns Tirumaalai (dedicated to Lord Ranganatha).
