The Divine Message - Message From Poojyashree Shree Amma - The Ultimate
Liberator Bestowed By Lord Shri Krishna!
Radhekrishna! In the well-known tradition of 'Guruparamparai', our elders have left behind them several messages for us to apply and experience. Of them, let us share one about
'Bhattar' who is well known in the 'Guruparamparai Vaibhavam'. 'Shri Nanjeeyar' comes next who is then followed by
'Shri Nampillai'. Those who have correctly understood their Guru's glory alone till today are able to do a sacred work selflessly. Shri Nampillai had immense faith on his Aacharyar which can never be expressed in mere words. By doing Bhakthi alone, one can feel the intensity of the word
One day as he reached the banks of the Cauvery river of Srirangam from his return after paying his obeisance to the Lord of Thiruvellari, he noticed that the river was flooded to its brim due to which He was unable to cross the river and enter Srirangam. In those days there used to be round boats for crossing the banks of the river. A certain ferryman still was allowing passengers to climb in his boat which within no time was crowded. Moreover, it was raining cats and dogs accompanied by a dark evening. The ferryman grew cautious and told the passengers that for a safe travel to the other bank a couple or more people would have to leave the boat. However, in such a climate of heavy rain on a dark evening who would play games on one's own life? Yes, people who have complete belief in God alone can perform such a daring feat. If we take the case of PRAHLADA, he survived even after he was pushed under the feet of huge elephants; even when being hurled from hilltops he was caught by Lord Vishnu as if catching a flower. It was only because of the faith the child had in the name of God. Moreover unless one has such a faith in God its impossible to perform or be a testimony to such miracles.
In the above incident nobody was ready to come out as a volunteer to jump off the boat and into the river. Everybody kept looking at the faces of their co-passengers waiting for a solution. Now Shri Nampillai too was in the same boat. At that moment a lady who was a sishyai of Shri Nampillai with folded palms approached the ferryman. She asked him to safely take Shri Nampillai to the banks of Srirangam and also prayed for his life to be one of 100 long years. This is what our elders denote as ACHARYA ABHIMANAM (bonding or attachment towards acharyar). She further said that if he would agree to it then she is always prepared to jump in the overflowing and menacing river. Everybody including the ferryman was astounded by the speech of the noble lady. Thus, after conveying her opinion to the ferryman to do as per her wishes, she jumped into the river without any second thought in her mind. Immediately, the next moment Shri Nampillai was gripped by a sense of anxiety because being a Sadguru all he wished was for the welfare of all the living beings. Now, Shri Nampillai continuously started mumbling that 'such a noble soul has departed'. Even after reaching the shores of Srirangam, he asked the people to search for the lady. Suddenly, from nowhere he heard the voice of the same lady confirming her safe presence. Radhekrishna, Radhekrishna, Radhekrishna. When a sishya undergoes even a small misery the acharyar is the most affected. The lady too was shedding tears of joy. Now there is a great difference between the tears of common people and to that of the tears shed in the glory of acharyar. The lady said that it was the grace of her acharyar Shri Nampillai who in the form of a sand dune saved her from drowning. For instance, in the midst of a river there is an elevated portion which we refer to as the sand dunes. Radhekrishna, Radhekrishna, Radhekrishna.
An acharyar would never comply with the unsurping of other's lives. They are those who prefer for the better of everybody. Now thanks to the grace of Shri Nampillai the lady saved herself by standing on the sand dune. Shri Nampillai too was happy that his sishyai is safe thanks to the grace of God. The other passengers too helped the lady by bringing her back to the shore from the river dune. Thus, our Guruparampara elaborates on the acharya-sishya relationship. Moreover, this is the only reason for the success of the Guruparampara as what we are following is but the truth. It is what our acharyars have called the 'saranagati', which alone can help us from all sorrows whereas rest all is just farce. The secret of the lady's miraculous survival was nothing but saranagati. We have so many instances where an elephant has done saranagati and how a rabbit has taken to the easy but very powerful saranagati. However, it does not mean that one has to give up all their responsibilities to take up saranagati. That is the greatness of saranagati. Saranagati does not compel us to grow a beard and start wearing saffron robes. One has to meditate on the name of God within their minds and continue with their responsibilities. The above instance of Shri Nampillai and his sishyai was to prove the effectiveness of sarangati since people in today's date need proof to believe. Hence, our elders in the 'Guruparamparai' have given us ample of proofs to strengthen our belief in saranagati.
Radhekrishna, Radhekrishna, Radhekrishna, Radhekrishna, Radhekrishna, Radhekrishna. Radhekrishna.......
Poojyashri Shri Amma
Chennai, January 2006Listen to Amma's divine message in Her own voice! (in Tamil)
(Our Guruji Amma is the embodiment of simplicity (saulabhyam) has been doing Sathsangam in all possible ways amidst her household chores to the mankind on whole and was thus rendering a sathsangam to a devotee of overseas on phone)
is fortunate to listen and be blessed to Guruji Amma's Sathsangam through
phone irrespective of one's domicile in any nook and corner of this universe
and many more souls should yearn to enjoy this bliss! Since people are easily
tempted to the uncivilized activities and are trapped in the web of movies,
television programmes and some unpleasant magazines, more and more Sathsangams
should be encouraged and attended to keep oneself engaged in the union of the
Almighty, which is the only eternal truth. Just as hills are made of hard stones
alone and its originality cannot be replaced, likewise Bhagawaan is the eternal
truth and at a stage each one realizes this truth. Its no compulsion and even
those who have disassociated will realize this truth. Such is the greatness of
Bhakthi and Naamasankeerthana. Since, Naamasankeerthana is the Kali Yuga Dharma,
there is no match to it. Radhekrishna!
Mahatmas - New Bhaktacharitras Each Month
India is the holy land with so many bhaktas (devotees). When we go through the Indian history, there must be a bhakta in every period. That is the greatness of this sacred land. Bhaktas are the role model for all the bonded souls. They enjoy their life in a perfect way. Bhaktas surrender themselves to the Lotus feet of Lord. By hearing or reading bhaktas' divine story, the bonded soul is enlightened to come out of the worldwide bondages.
Radhekrishna! Sincere chanting and listening to the great stories of devotees will surely give a peace of mind to everybody, even in this 21st century. So many people think that listening to the devotee's stories is a waste of time and there is no benefit at all. If somebody wants to realize the power of bagawan, first of all they must listen bhaktha charithram [stories of devotees]. There are so many advantages in listening to baktha charithram.
Radhekrishna!!! The sight of the Lord bedecked with every type of ornament, the pleasing walk, mischievous look, captivating appearance and the humility blended with mercy perplexed Thirumangaimannan. Radhekrishna!!!
When he saw the Almighty accompanied with His consort coming closer to him, Thirumangaimannan was overwhelmed with joy and felt that he found a great wealth. He thanked the Bhagawath Bhakthaas for acquiring a great treasure for the divine service of Thadhi Aaradhanam. Radhekrishna!!!
The Lord came closer to Thirumangai mannan. Thirumangai mannan and his other friends encircled the Lord along with His men and cried loudly with joy. The Almighty pretended to be frightened like an ordinary man. The one who gives fear and also wanes away the fear within us Himself pretended so with Thirumangai mannan. The nithya sooris from the celestial world were also astonished when they saw this wonderful scene. The sages and devas forgot themselves as they were engrossed in visualizing this miraculous sight. Of all the other Yugas, the people of Kali Yuga enjoyed the Lord practically only for the reason that the Lord Himself was devoted to his devotees. When the Almighty Himself decided to come down to this earth practically, on account of the unconditional faith of Thirumangai mannan, then there are no words to express the depth of his faith.
The Lord's divine consort too pretended to be like a normal human being. The people who accompanied the divine couple too pretended excellently along with Lord Narayanan. All of them together were playing a magnificent play. For whose sake was this game? It was all for the sake of our Thirumangai mannan alone. Radhekrishna!
Thirumangai mannan with his charming looks, clever words and efficiency smilingly asked the pretending Lord to remove all his ornaments. The Lord too removed all the ornaments very sincerely as though He knew nothing. As He was removing the ornaments one by one Lord Krishna looked more handsome. The Goddess too removed all Her ornaments except for the Mangalyam and other such ornaments which are the only identifications for a married woman. Thirumangai mannan jumped in joy when he saw the huge amount of ornaments and wealth. Radhekrishna! Without any thought of selfishness, he purely dedicated the wealth for the service of the Bhagawath Bhakthaas which in turn made him grow with supreme happiness. Thirumangai mannan looked at the Lord from the feet to His head when He removed all His ornaments. Radhekrishna!!!
Thirumangaimannan stared at the all powerful Lord after repeatedly seeing Him from His head to feet and feet to head. The Lord had not removed a toe ring from His foot. When he saw it, he felt that he should snatch away that too. Looking at the Lord, he inquired, 'Why have you not removed the toe-ring'? For which the Lord replied, 'I am not able to remove it and if possible, you may take it out'. Thirumangai mannan felt that he should take that too and tried to remove it.
Let us all wait to witness the remaining part of the thrilling play in our next issue. Radhekrishna!!!
Krishnam Vande Jagadhgurum - Extracts From The Holy Bhagawath Geetha
Radhekrishna.Hinduism is an ancient religion. All the things that have been spoken in Hindu religion can be applied in practical life. Although in 21st century till everyone can apply this in his or her daily life. The aim of Hindu religion is to provide total happiness to everyone at all times (or any point of time). The essence of Hinduism is told in "Bhagawad Gita". In order to realize what is said in Bhagawad Gita it is a compulsory (must) to have an unconditional faith on Bhagawad Gita. So many people have benefited in their lives because of the (by reading) shlokas of Bhagawad Gita. In Bhagawad Gita, Bhagawan Shri Krishna has told the way to lead a happy life in such an easy way that even a normal layman can easily understand. The slokas are so simple that anyone can understand and use it practically.
Radhekrishna! Trees donate in ample. Clouds donate the rain plentifully. The earth donate metals like gold, diamond, ores, water etc., The moon donates the coolness in entirety. The flowers donate the fragrance in full. Vegetables, fruits, leafy vegetables too donate all its energy and taste fully.
The fire also donates its strength in Toto. The sea too donates pearls, coral etc. In the same way Aacharyar (guru) donates the most wonderful chants and Bhagawaan's magnificent secrets to his disciple in real sense. God also donates His mercy to the living souls in abundance.
In this manner, in this world many of us are donating at all times in different ways. So one need not be proud of extending alms or donation. Trees, sky, moon, sun, wind, earth, sea, plants all are engaged in the act of donation. Human life is fully dependant for its survival on these donations and there need not be any thought of ego on his donations. It would be a surprise only when he does not donate.
However, donations given by human beings are considered to be a noble one, because in doing so, they are blessed to attain the vision of God. So, Bhagawaan Krishna says to offer the fruits of offering to HIM. Human beings suffer from sorrow when donated with pride. One should in fact think that donation is offered in the name of Lord Krishna. Bhagawan Krishna also desires the same. Radhekrishna!!! Hence, whatever is offered as donation should be made owing to Bhagawaan which alone is considered to be great.
After the word 'Dhadhaasi Yath', Bhagawaan utters the word 'Yaththapasyasi'. Let us see the detailed explanation in the next issue. Radhekrishna!!!

Even if the monsoon fails the crops will long with an earnest desire for the dark clouds. In the same manner Sri Kulasekhara Aazhwaar prays to the presiding deity of ViRRuvakOdu that it is HE, who alone is capable of destroying the worldly sufferings and even if HE does not do so, his mind will be fixed firmly on the Almighty alone at all times.
Radhekrishna! Ardent devotees of Bhagawaan relate each and every incident of this world with God which common people can never do so. In each and every act lies wonderful reality necessary for leading the human life. If those realities are understood in the real sense, life could be a pleasant one. Nature's superlative and important secrets cannot be perceived by people attributing significance to their pride and desires.
Devotion should be brimmed in mind to the extent that God alone should be the thought in each and every act of life. Bhagawaan alone should be the foundation of the human life. Radhekrishna! No one can survive without this foundation.
Sri Kulasekhara Aazhwaar firmly believed on this foundation, that is 'God as his strength'. Hence, he considered nature's incidents as an experience and lesson of his devotion towards God. In this paasuram, he compares his expectation from God of that of the fresh green crops in the fields that are awaiting the reception of the clouds for the showering of the rain.
Although the source of water from the rivers, lakes or wells helps in the growth of the crops, nothing can be compared to that of the rain. In many places the farming land is dependent only on rain. Even farmers look forward to a good monsoon rather than generating water from other sources such as, wells, rivers or lakes.
Monsoon is a great boon to the crops. The crops do not have any other alternative than a good monsoon. Even when the monsoon fails, the crops longingly await for the collection of dark clouds. Sri Kulasekhara Aazhwaar experienced the intense desire of the crops that were constantly expecting for the collection of the dark clouds. Oh! What a surprising experience of Sri Kulasekhara Aazhwaar! What a crystal clear heart and a merciful mind he had, to understand even a desire of a crop. Radhekrishna!
Sri Kulasekhara Aazhwaar expresses his feelings that just as the crops those long for the rain water, he too yearns for the water referred to the Supreme Love of the Almighty alone in this so called desert of worldly life and will never give his mind to anything else. No one has understood the happiness in their life in the real sense. But everyone has experienced the sorrow fully. Radhekrishna!
It is Bhagawaan alone who is capable of waning out the sorrow of the human beings. Sri Kulasekhara Aazhwaar puts forth his utmost faith on the presiding deity of ViRRuvakOdu and says that, in case He does not wane away his sorrow, still his mind will rest upon the Lord of ViRRuvakOdu alone. Radhekrishna!!!
This steadfast confidence alone on Bhagawaan will help us to lead a real happy life in a beautiful manner. There is no doubt in it.
The so called mind should completely get immersed on the Almighty alone. Radhekrishna!!!
Let's wait for a month to relish the next paasuram. Radhekrishna!!!

Jai Shree Poojyashree Shree Amma

Radhekrishna. Before attaining the Guru, even I had the thought like everybody that Bhakthi means performing Pooja, reciting Archanai in the morning and in the evening. I never thought that Bhakthi could be done at all times. It was just then when I met my Guru, Mahan BrahmaShree Gopalavallidasar and took the Manthra Upadesam, my way of thinking and seeing the life completely changed. It gave me such a confidence that at all times the Naamasankeertanam gives solution to all my questions and gives relief from the confusions that I have in my mind.
Guruji Amma's Karunai and Naamasankeertanam have really changed my life.
The torrential rain in Mumbai was really a big anugraham for me to realize the importance of Naamasankeertnam.
Presently, I am staying in Silvasa, Gujarat. Mumbai experienced the torrential downpour on 26th July, 2005. On 28th July, i.e., just after two days when the rains were still continuing, the train services was irregular and at that time, I wanted to come to Dombivli, Mumbai as the rain water had entered in my house where my family members were staying.
All my colleagues said that it is not at all possible to reach as the train services were almost stagnated.
At that time, it came to my mind was Guruji Amma's words that 'Naamasankeertanam can give everything'. So, I started chanting and said to my colleagues that my Guruji Amma and Guruji are with me and I will surely reach Dombivli and with this in my mind, started from Silvasa to see my family at Dombivli.
It takes around 9 to 10 hours to reach as the bus and train timings are not fixed. But, on that day even though it was raining,I reached home within 7 hours. Even in normal days, I could not reach so easily and early but due to Guruji Amma's and Guruji's immense Aasirvadham, I reached unusually early.
On that day, I experienced the importance of Naama Japam. Such is the greatness of 'Naama Japam and my Guruji Amma and Guruji'.
