1. The Divine Message - Message From Poojyashree Shree Amma - The Ultimate Liberator Bestowed By Lord Shri Krishna!

RadheKrishna! The goal of bhakthi is to realize that the Lord within us in the form of aathma. Bhakthi does not mean that we dont plan anything for us. We should have aspirations to build a house etc but then we should allow it to materialize as per Lord's wishes. Again when the wish comes true, we should realise that it is the Lord who is granting us all the things.

Realizing that we are not the body and aathama is a very important element. Unless a person realizes this fact he/she may not be able to clarify or explain things. A person may read some books and get to know but the real life experience would be missing. We can clearly distinguish our body from aatham as we do sincere bhakthi. Like a well ripened tamarind that gets detached from the outer skin, we will be able to feel that we are not the body. Not everyone is going to the bottom of the ocean called bhakthi. People are sailing in the ocean in a boat but nobody, not that many, are ready to explore the depths of the ocean. Even mahatmas many a times get caught in likes and dislikes and fail to reach the bottom of this ocean called bhakthi. Continuous namajapam will allow us to realize the truth.

2. Mahatmas - New Bhaktacharitras Each Month

India is the holy land with so many bhaktas (devotees). When we go through the Indian history, there must be a bhakta in every period. That is the greatness of this sacred land. Bhaktas are the role model for all the bonded souls. They enjoy their life in a perfect way. Bhaktas surrender themselves to the Lotus feet of Lord. By hearing or reading bhaktas' divine story, the bonded soul is enlightened to come out of the worldwide bondages.

Radhekrishna! Sincere chanting and listening to the great stories of devotees will surely give a peace of mind to everybody, even in this 21st century. So many people think that listening to the devotee's stories is a waste of time and there is no benefit at all. If somebody wants to realize the power of bagawan, first of all they must listen bhaktha charithram [stories of devotees]. There are so many advantages in listening to baktha charithram.

Bharath is a very special land and contained within it are sacred places and rivers. Devotees born in this sacred Bharath ensure that they propagate bhakti in all corners of the country. This is the precise reason why the fragrance of bhakti can be felt all around our country.

Our beloved Guruji  has a special reverence for Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and in the coming issues, we will enjoy his bhakthi and the path of devoution that he had set an example for us to follow.

At last all of them finish their baths and they begin to do Sandhyavandanam. Nimayee opens and closes his eyes looking alternatively at what his father and brother are doing. All the devas were so impressed and wanted the Lord to enjoy them with those winks and pranks. Nimayee pinches his brother and indicates that he is very hungry. One their way everybody enjoy Nimayees pranks and they are unable to decide whether he is good, or mischievous or on the lighter side of life. On returning home Nimayee forgot his hunger and sat on his mother's lap and recounts the bath he had in Ganges. Nimayee also recounts how he did pranayama. The reason why despite all the pollution the air is still breathable is that the Lord often purifies it by doing pranayama. Once Nimyaee said that he was very hungry and Sasimatha bring him paalgova (milk sweet). Nimayee leaves the sweet and goes to the backyard and instead begins to eat mud from the garden. This was noticed by Sasimatha and asks why he ate mud. For that Nimayee replies that every thing is mud only. The milk comes from the cow and the cow eats the grass. The grass grows in mud and hence everything is mud. But Sasimatha was an intelligent brahmin lady and so she retorts that a brick is made out of mud and so is a mud pot . But a brick cant hold any water as does the pot! This leela was to demonstrate to the world the knowledge that Sasimatha had in her. After that incident Nimayee promised that she would listed to her mom and would eat only the items given to him

Tirumangai Azhwar

Once day Nimayee was roaming on the streets and was collecting all the pieces of the cloth on the road and was wearing them. He also wore a turban and resembled exactly like an insane person would look. He also applied charcoal all over his fair face to darken it and went to the backyard of his house. There were broken and discarded pots and he picked one of them and being to sing "Hari bhol Hari bhol Govinda Hari bhol" Everyone noticed Nimayee state and instructed him that a brahmin boy should not do such activities and went on to notify Sashimatha of Nimayee's activities. Sashimatha rushes to meet Nimayee....

More of Gauranga leela to continue in the coming episodes.

3. Krishnam Vande Jagadhgurum - Extracts From The Holy Bhagawath Geetha

Radhekrishna.Hinduism is an ancient religion. All the things that have been spoken in Hindu religion can be applied in practical life. Although in 21st century till everyone can apply this in his or her daily life. The aim of Hindu religion is to provide total happiness to everyone at all times (or any point of time). The essence of Hinduism is told in "Bhagawad Gita". In order to realize what is said in Bhagawad Gita it is a compulsory (must) to have an unconditional faith on Bhagawad Gita. So many people have benefited in their lives because of the (by reading) shlokas of Bhagawad Gita. In Bhagawad Gita, Bhagawan Shri Krishna has told the way to lead a happy life in such an easy way that even a normal layman can easily understand. The slokas are so simple that anyone can understand and use it practically.
In the coming months we will enjoy the 12th Chapter of Gita and the devoution towards the Lord as explained by our  beloved Guruji.

Gurujiamma & Guruji - Krishnam Vande Jagathgurum

Krishna proclaimed that since he saw Arjuna first he was bound to fulfill his wishes and that he would come back to him for his turn. Lord Krishna said that he has already decided on the options and asks if he wants his army or His services in the war. Krishna also says that he would not wield any weapons during the war. Before Arjuna could open his mouth, Duryodana was praying that he should receive Krishna's army. Arjuna decides to choose weaponless Krishna and informs his decision. Duryodana happily receives Krishna's army and walks away. Later Krishna proceeds to ask Arjuna as what use will he find of Him? Arjuna replies that the strength of the army will only be there if Krishna is present. Like a household that has all appliances but no electricity, the army would be useless if Krishna was absent. Arjuna says that he will win the world even if nobody is with him other than Krishna. Arjuna says that he has a wish and that Krishna should drive his chariot. The secret is that we should allow Krishna to drive our lives. Only passengers of trains and buses enjoy the journey and not the drivers themselves.Krishna agrees to drive Arjuna's chariot in the war.

A good day was fixed to start the war and both the sides were facing each other on the day of the war. Few days before the start of the war sage Vyasa visits Dhirdashtra and requests the king to stop the war. Dhirdashtra refuses so but expersses his eagerness to witness the happenings of the war. Vyasa decides to grant Dhirdashtra divine eyes to witness the war but the king refuses saying that he is not prepared to see his kith and kin die in the war. At the same time Sanjaya the driver of Dhirdashtra's chariot prays that if he gets those divine eyes then he could witness the war as well. Dhirdasthra requests Vyasa to provide the divine vision to Sanjaya and that he would hear from him on the happenings in the war. Save Vyasa blessed Sanjya with the divine vision and informs that Sanjaya would be able to see and hear all the happenings and secrets in the war and that none of the weapons would harm him as well. Having said that Vyasa moved on. Before the start of the war Sanjaya with his divine vision explains to Dhirdashtra the kingdoms on earth and about the planet itself. The war begins and at the end of the tenth day, Bhishma falls down and was resting on his bed made of arrows. It is then that Dhirdastra requests Sanjaya to narrate the incidents of the war in detail and this
is the beginning of Bagwath Gita.

Kulashekara Azhwaar

Perumal Thirumozhi was as a result of Kulasekara azhwar longing to see and enjoy Lord Ranganatha. The Thirumozhi also results from the bhakthi of the azhwar towards Rama and Krishna and he begins with his longing for Lord Ranganatha. Everyone of us have so much of longing for the worldly affairs but the longing and the love for the lord alone will help us achieve a good state.

Kulasekara azhwar enjoys Lord Ranganatha as Adisheshan in the first two pasurams or songs. Then he enjoys the Lord as enjoyed by Brahma. But the way Gopis enjoyed the Lord is considered to be supreme. This is because the not so intelligent Gopis were fully aware of the strengths of the Lord and believed that Krishna would save them. Of all the avataras, Krishna avatar is considered to be the best and one that can easily be enjoyed. This was followed by Kulasekara azhwar enjoying how Narada and Tumburu enjoy the Lord. He continues further and sees how the devotees are enjoying the Lord.

Everybody is being controlled by the senses and is a slaves to these five senses. But the devotees by the fact of their surrender to the Lord are able to conquer the senses. Even great sages like Vishwamitra were defeated by his senses but the devotees of the Lord fail to fall a victiom to their senses. Once while a bachelor Kurathazhwar was walking in the streets. He heard an age old coupling lamenting about the marriage of their daughter. It is said that those who have a relationship with the daughter will have to face death. Kurathazhwar on hearing this, came to ask for their daughter and was ready to get married. In these days even after being married, men are looking for other sources of entertainment. But Kurathazhwar conquered all his senses and the couple without having an relationship was blessed to have Parasara bhattar as their son. Those who enjoy Lord Ranganatha are being blessed to control their senses automatically.

The Lord says about Gopis in one instance and he mentions that the Gopis will never be overcome by unwanted desires. Their hearts are like seeds that have been roasted. A roasted seed can never germinate however hard you try to plant and take good care of it. Once we get attached to the Lord, our minds will definitely become like roasted seeds and nothing else will affect us. If we expect people , our relatives and friends to behave with love all the time, it is a grand recipe for failure. Nobody at all times is able to love him/herself. When someone who can't love himself completely, there is no chance that the person is going to provide unlimited love all the time. Only Guru and Lord can love a being endlessly and will behave with uniformity towards everyone. The devotees have destroyed the mind that is the cause of all this misery. Can the devotees be without any vices too and is that possible? Yes very much possible because they are always engaged in meditating on the Lord..

RadheKrishna the pasuram continues next month...

5. Spring Of Spiritual Showers - Experiences Of Bhaktas, Disciples Of Poojyashree Shree Amma, Our Gurujiamma

An experience of a disciple in his / her own words

divine eyes that guard us continuously

Radhekrishna! I prostrate at the feet of my beloved Guruji and the great Gurujiamma. With their blessings only I have come to a stage where I could reallise the greatness of Bhagavan Krishna in my life.  With Guruji’s permission I would like to share with you a small Leela of Krishna which happened a few days back.

Last week I had gone to my home town from where I live, to accompany my mother back home, in a taxi.  In our village is a fairly big temple of Little Krishna which attracts many villagers daily. The main deity is Bala gopala, a 2 year old cute, chubby, toddler, both his hands outstretched with ‘kadalipazham’ and butter in them. He is adorned only with jewels like crown, ear rings, necklace, bangles, flute, hip chain and anklets. Usually he doesn’t wear anything, not even a ‘komanam’! Whoever sets their eyes on Him would like to snatch Him from there and carry back home with them.

When the programme was decided I wanted to go to the temple to see the cute little ‘boy’!  It takes about 2 ½ hrs to 3 hrs to reach my home town from where I live.  I hurriedly bought some lotuses and made a small garland for the little Krishna to be taken with me next day. Unfortunately morning we could start only by 8-30. I asked the driver if he can make it there before 11am as the temple closes at that time daily. He said we could and started. But due to heavy traffic at the morning hours we could reach only by 11-15. All the way I was chanting and praying that the temple shud be open till we reached. As I got out of the car and rushed inside the temple I asked some lady coming out whether the temple was still open. She said yes it was and asked me to hurry inside. I almost ran as the temple was fairly big and I had to cover some distance to enter the sanctum. As I neared the sanctum I saw the pujari close the doors in front of me. I ran shouting ‘wait wait’, but it was too late. The pujari said he cant open it as he had closed the door. I was disappointed and didn’t now what to do. But collected myself and handed over the garland to him asking him to put it on Krishna when the temple was opened in the evening. I walked back to the car silently scolding the driver who could have made up at least one minute before and also my fate. Reaching home I felt very much dejected and got into the bed. Tears began to flow through my eyes. “Have I done anything wrong?” I wondered. “Maybe Krishna thought I am an egoist and so closed the doors in front of me”, I thought. These thoughts gave me intense pain and I kept crying for some time in the belief that Krishna was angry with me and I have done something wrong to irritate Him.

After sometime I called guruji and told him what happened. He laughed and teased me asking, ‘How do u know why the doors closed before you?’

I replied that may be I have done something wrong for which He was angry.

“How do you think Krishna is angry with you?” he asked.  “Why don’t you take it this way? Before starting for the journey you had darshan at the local temple in your place. So Bhagavan is telling You already had darshan of me in the morning. Is there any need for you to still keep running for it? Do you think I am in anyway different from the Krishna you saw in the morning? That darshan you had was great indeed. There is no need for you to strain yourself so much to come this far after having a heartful darshan there. Havent you heard the paasuram of Thiruppanaazhvaar,  en amuthinai kanda kankal matrondrinai kaanaathe’? It shud be that way only. Be contented with one form and stick to that. Don’t run after every deities you see”.  Guruji told me this was the reason for closing the doors in front of me and not as I feared.  Immediately I felt a flood of relief flowing inside me. I was back to my self.

Then I started my journey back. It was then that Krishna decided to play the small leela.  On our way back I made one or two phone calls from my mobile in the car and kept the phone in my lap and completely forgot about it. I had asked the driver to stop the car in front of some flower shop as I wanted to buy some flowers for the temple. The driver told me that we had passed a flower shop and I asked him to stop the car. I snatched my purse, got out and asked the driver to take the car  forward for safe parking. I began to walk towards the shop. I bought the flowers and walked back towards the car which was parked further away from where I got out. As I was getting into the car, without any specific reason I remembered my mobile and looked for it on the seat beside me. I found it was missing and told the driver that my cell is missing. I searched inside the car and could not find. I was surprised that why I remembered my mobile at the right time when it was lost. Then suddenly a thought came that it would have fallen out when I got out of the car. I told the driver so and got out and looked around. But it was not to be seen anywhere as far as my eyes could reach. The foot path was empty throughout. The driver from him seat turned his head and stared through the rear window outside and cried out ‘Madam your cellphone is lying down there, why don’t you go there and take it.”  I got out and looked all along the foot path again, but could not find anything. But he insisted it was lying there. So I walked a few feet forwards, still not able to find a thing on the foot path. Suddenly on an impulse I looked down at the road. To my surprise on the corner of the road by the side of the foot path my cell was lying – not actually lying but sticking to the side of the foot path like a lizard un noticed by anyone who would have passed by. How did the driver notice it from the car and that too from that distance? It is still a mystery! Well how did I remember about the cellphone at that time itself? That too is still a mystery ! I cant find any other explanations except that Krishna prompted us both as antharyaami.

By this leela Krishna proved to me Guruji’s words that He is always WITH US only and NEVER AGAINST US! What a fool I had been in thinking that Krishna is angry with me for something I have done! Isnt He the ocean of mercy? He is only Premasvarupa.  I had been a fool not to notice His intense Premai for us. It was only with Guru kripai that I could realise this truth. Krishna has played this leela purposefully only to make me realise Guruji’s words. I don’t have words to express my gratitude towards my Guruji. I prostrate at those feet again and again.

6. Samarpanam

parithraanaaya sadhoonaam vinasaya cha dhushkrutham

dharma sansthapanarthaya sambhavami yuge yuge

Bhagawan takes avatar in each and every yuga mainly to safeguard the bhaktas and then to destroy the rakshasaas who trouble his bhaktas. So Bhagawan comes to this bhoomi from paramapadham just for the sake of his bhaktas. Hence we come to know that bhaktas are very important to the Lord. Whenever Bhagawan comes to rescue his bhaktas, the other fellow people also reap the benefits.........Our guruji amma gives high respect to all the bhaktas. Hence our Vedhanaadham's every issue will be dedicated to one bhakta. This issue we are dedicating to the one of the great eternal devotees of the Lord namely - 'Bhishma'

The great devotee of the Lord who was the grandfather of both the pandavas and the gauravas was born to born to King Shantanu and Ganga as Devaratha.

The great soul who took an oath for a life long celibacy when his father wanted to marry Satiyavathi. The name Bhishma means the person who took a terrible oath.

The great son was blessed by his father for the oath and granted him 'Ichaa Mriytu' i.e. to select the time that he would wish to depart his body.

The great devotee who proclaimed that he would make Krishna take up arms in the war and eventually succeeded in doing so by this pure bhakthi

The great soul who was constantly thinking about the Lord even in his death bed. It was this devoution that brought Krishna to visit him after the war was over

The great bhaktha who recited Vishnu Sahasaranama on seeing Lord Krishna and departed in full consciousness and the blessings of Lord Krishna
