Today workshops are being conducted with the promise that it will change the grief experienced by humans and that the mind can be steadied. Can a three day workshop subdue the mind, which has long been going astray for ages, all of a sudden believes this and goes and registers for such programs. Their own children are advised that due to their attendance of three day workshop, they have to take care of themselves and that nobody cares whether they have food or not. If their own children meets such fate just imagine the care people give to the rest of the society.
There arises the question that why do people then give birth to children. It is mostly for the reason that they can prove to the society that they can bear a child and that both the husband and wife are fit and for nothing else. Is anyone, these days, trying to have a baby for the sole reason of imparting bhakti to the child and make the child drown in happiness as a result of union with the God. You will not find anyone and that I have not found so far.
Thousands of years back, Azhwars realised this pathetic state of affairs and grieved for the mortals that they are chasing food and clothing rather than God. These days are no different and people, sacrificing their sleep, go and work in call centres with the sole aim of making extra money. What is the reasoning behind sending the children in the age group 21- 35 to such places of work? Our bhakthi questions this reasoning which as a result of such work brings harm to the spine of the people working in such centres well before the age of 35.
This is why we are preaching the path of bhakthi and grab such people who are worthy of following the path even if we hit upon one single
human being in the course of it. We have taken a vow, as with humans who have a vow to accumulate money, that we are bent on changing the attraction towards money and instead move it towards God.

Mahatmas - New Bhaktacharitras Each Month India
is the holy land with so many bhaktas (devotees). When we go through the Indian
history, there must be a bhakta in every period. That is the greatness of this
sacred land. Bhaktas are the role model for all the bonded souls. They enjoy
their life in a perfect way. Bhaktas surrender themselves to the Lotus feet of
Lord. By hearing or reading bhaktas' divine story, the bonded soul is
enlightened to come out of the worldwide bondages. Radhekrishna!
Sincere chanting and listening to the great stories of devotees will surely give
a peace of mind to everybody, even in this 21st century. So many people think
that listening to the devotee's stories is a waste of time and there is no
benefit at all. If somebody wants to realize the power of bagawan, first of all
they must listen bhaktha charithram [stories of devotees]. There are so many
advantages in listening to baktha charithram.
Bharath is a very special land and contained within it are sacred places and rivers. Devotees born in this sacred bharath ensure that they propagate bhakti in all corners of the country. This is the precise reason why the fragrance of bhakti can be felt all around our country.Thirumangai Azhwar was visiting all the sacred places around this country. Whilst on pilgrimage around the country he visited the sacred town of Srirangam.
"vimaanam
praNavaakaaram vEdhaSrungam mahaadhbhutham
SrirangaSaayee
bhagavaan praNavaarththa prakaasaka:"
Lord of Srirangam, Renganatha, has a divine beauty that captures everybody.
Renganathar, who predates Lord Rama, has retained the beauty in this kaliyuga as well. In general, with passage of time, any beautiful thing loses its sheen. But the beauty of Lord Renganatha never wanes and withstands time. On the other hand with each passing day the beauty of the Lord continues to grow more. The Lord has been unaffected by sun, rain, hurricances and the invasions from other sects and continues to relax in this holy abode. The mercy shown bythe Lord towards ordinary mortals is a very special one. The Lord
transcends the three yugas dwapara, thretha and kaliyuga and gives His blessing
to the people of all yugas according to their bhakti, devotion and knowledge.
Tirupan Azhwar wanted to experience the beauty of the Lord and used to cry everyday on the banks of the river cauvery. The
Azhwar was brought by Logasarvamunivar to the sacred city of Srirangam and he enjoyed the beauty of the Lord from His head to toe.Since he experienced the beauty of the Lord, the
Azhwar decides that there is nothing else in the world that needs to seen or experienced.
The Lord is an embodiment of beauty and especially so when "thaila kapu" (a mixture of herbal oils applied during special
occasions) is applied. He is the same Lord who came to the earth as Lord Krishna and did all the wonders ("leelas"). Even now people say that they can smell the odour of butter if we get closer to the Lord. This is what the
Azhwar describes that if we mingle closely with the Lord and go near his mouth , till day one can experience the smell arising as a result of consumption of butter.
Azhwar sings thus "Oh Lord who came down as Krishna and consumed so much butter during that period consumed my heart today". Lord Krishna, an incarnation of
Renganatha, used to have butter without damaging or troubling the pots in which they have been kept. That is why the
Azhwar writes that the Lord has consumed his soul without giving any trouble to the body much in the way He had consumed butter without affecting the pots.
The same Lord is the Lord of the Lords. The Lord is like a nectar and enjoying Him is everything and the nectar in heaven is nothing compared to the beauty of the
Lord. The same nectar serves as a poison to the miscreants in the world. It is a fact that the Lord is a poison to those who had ill thoughts in their minds and a nectar to those whose hears are pure and filled with bhakthi.
Hence the Azhwar concludes that having seen this nectar Renganatha, he does have to see or enjoying anything else and attains union with the Lord.
In front of such a might Lord, Renganatha, Tirumangai Azhwar is standing and enjoying the beauty of the
Lord. He is amazed by the beauty of the Lord. He is recollecting that no wonder
Tirupan Azhwar mingled with his beauty, Thondaradipodi Azhwar created a flower garden and dedicated his life in service of the
Lord, Aandal fell in love with the beauty of the same Lord, NamAzhwar cried day and night in search of the same
Lord, PeriAzhwar worshipped from right from womb.
Tirumangai Azhwar is immersed in bliss on recollecting the beauty of the Lord. All the people
are very spell bound on seeing Tirumangai Azhwar enjoying the beauty of the Lord. Tirumangai
Azhwar as a result of being a king was blessed with broad shoulders and a body that will make anyone tremble. But in front of the
Lord, the Azhwars might body turned so delicate as that of a women. The Azhwars turns earns to meet his love, Lord
Renganatha and stands in front of Him. The Azhwar is standing as one who is eager to meet his love, as a child who is waiting to enjoy his mother, as a servant who is waiting to serve his master, as a pauper who stands in front of a rich person. It is very hard to describe the feelings that the bhaktas undergo.Hence
Tondaradipodi Azhwar sings that the Lord is residing in everyone and understands what the person is undergoing.

Tirumangai Azhwar , a king by himself, decides to dedicate his life in service of the
Lord. Everybody who sees the Lord wishes to dedicated their lives His service and this is because of his resting pose, His beautiful eyes,. His shapely body and His mercy. We should all serve the
Lord in whatever way we can. Tirumagai Azhwar decides to renovate the towers (gopurams), build great walls and decided to treat the
Lord as a true king. As a result the Azhwar decided to do anything to achieve that despite the fact that he was
penniless now. His followers were ministers when he was a king, and his accomplices when he was a thief. The
Azhwar consults his ministers on ways to raise money for all the renovation he had planned. The ministers give a wonderful plan to the king, tirumangai
Azhwar, and wait for the next issue to know what the plan was and how tirumangai
Azhwar executed it.

Krishnam Vande Jagadhgurum - Extracts From The Holy Bhagawath Geetha
Radhekrishna.Hinduism
is an ancient religion. All the things that have been spoken in
Hindu religion can be applied in practical life. Although in 21st century till
everyone can apply this in his or her daily life. The aim of Hindu religion is
to provide total happiness to everyone at all times (or any point of time). The
essence of Hinduism is told in "Bhagawad Gita". In order to realize
what is said in Bhagawad Gita it is a compulsory (must) to have an unconditional
faith on Bhagawad Gita. So many people have benefited in their lives because of
the (by reading) shlokas of Bhagawad Gita. In Bhagawad Gita, Bhagawan Shri
Krishna has told the way to lead a happy life in such an easy way that even a
normal layman can easily understand. The slokas are so simple that anyone can
understand and use it practically.

Klesho athikatharas-thaesha-mavyakthasaktha-chethasaam
Avyakthaa he gather-dhukkam dhehaadhb-ravaapyathae.
Bhagawan explains the difficulties behing meditating on his formless nature. Now
He explains the benefits of people meditating on His form. It is a general practice to club the next two slokas as they are interlinked with each other. Hence they are looked at in conjunction. It is because that the
Lord has infinite mercy on us and that He wants us to attain a state of goodness that
He explaines the verses in His own words. In every day life many things are being spoken about but if we observe closely about those things it is very clear that neither it brings goodness nor any happiness to anyone. Life is being spent on speaking unnecessary things and things are being said on an ongoing basis to correct the flaws in the original speech and this
is how life has been spent by us. Even couples say that are having a casual chat and end up speaking non pertinent things and keep quiet when there is a need to actually speak.
Speaking must be contextually correct, deliver the right meaning and most of all must be essential at that point in time.
These days, it is a sad thing that nobody speaks anything that makes any sense at all. Even if we try to send a sensible speech, it is inbuilt with trickery while conceiving the true motive behind the speech. Nobody says anything that gives us real bliss and the Lord Krishna can speak in such a manner which will lead us to happiness. We must all listen to Him and follow his teachings as well. His teachings should be listened with great devotion. Devotion is very important while listening to Gita. While in office or at work we make sense of the conversation of our superiors only when listened with great attention. So when Lord Krishna says the Gita for the benefit of the rest of the world, it is imperative that we listen with great devotion. Arjuna listens with such great intensity and devotion and hence the Lord continues to explain gita Kurukshetra war is not an important milestone in history as it is the will of the Lord. It is known that Yudhistra, Arjuna, Bheema, Nakula and Sahadeva will only win. Lord has predecided that even though Dhuryodana had a great army of fighters that he will eventually lose.
Lord knows how to give victory to one and how to defeat the other and hence He is explaining the gita in a relaxed mood, All the enlightened people and the Lord knew beforehand that truth and goodness alone will prevail in the war. The war was just used as a medium by the Lord to explain the sacred Gita. Everyone has to struggle in life whether he is a brahaman, a vaishya, a kshtriya or a sudra, men or women, rich or poor, literate or illiterate. The strong requires a strongwill. Those people who maintain composure at all times alone overcome all struggles and stand victorious in life. Many people under many different circumstances take various decisions and it is all based on emotions arising out of them. decisions are based upon anger, or fear or disgust or out of jealousy. Such decisions taken by the mind under various influences described above never lead to any permanent or satisfactory solution. The mind should be calm when decisions are being made. we should make decisions when the mind is calm, as in sleep, and such decisions will be very pragmatic in nature.
Most decisions made by humans are attached with dreams and expectations.Decisions should be practical in nature and to achieve that the mind should be controlled and kept calm. We must listen to the Lords teaching if we were to achieve such a state of mind. Lord`s teachings are such that He will explain what suits a particular being. Who ever reads
Gita with a true intention to know will explain to that person a solution for all the troubles that the person is currently undergoing. When a humanbeing proposes a solution to his counterpart it is largely decided based on time, place, the person who is sending the solution and the environment in which he proposes the solution. What advice works for one will not work for the other person because human solutions are based on time. But Lord Krshna transcends time and even if time passes He stays on. We will see in subsequent issues on how time is sliced and what happens when the world is dissolved and how bhagawath gita
transcends time.

The Divine Songs - Dhivyaprabhandham
Meaning
Kulasekhara Azhwar states that he does not wish to sit on a caparisoned elephant in as much as he does not value such evanescent aishwaryas. He simply wants to be born as a useless bush in beautiful Thiruvengadam where his Thirumalaiyan, the Lord and the Master of the world, is residing.
Explanation

If for a moment we imbibe the thoughts of Kulasekara Azhwar then we will realise the depth and intensity of bhakthi. The depth of bhakthi lies in union with the God and realising true happiness. those beings who know how to satisfy the bhagawan alone enjoy true bliss in this world. The same class of humans alone can lift the other mortal beings from the clutches of mundane living. Naradhara Maharishi in his bhakthi sutra says that God alone can transcend maya and helps other beings overcome this maya as well. If we want to transcend maya then we must understand it. If you want to understand maya then God alone can shower mercy and make us understand what maya is and its power. Therefore to satisfy the
Lord alone should be the motive behind our living. If we develop such an urge comes only a balance of mind is achieved. the balance is related to why things are happening in this world and how they are happening as well.
We can also realise our true nature by the nature of this balance of mind.
In the earlier verse, Kulasekara Azhwar saysthat he is happy to be a Shenbaga tree in Tirumala. Then he analyzes and concludes that it is even sufficient to be a useless tree unlike Shengabaga as even that achieves importance by its association with the sacred tirumala hills. The analogy he uses this is to describe the good living enjoyed by humans that equates to a royal living. A royal living generally comes with wealth, servants who are ready to take orders and all bodily comforts. But
Kulasekara Azhwar even rejects such a living and describes the rejection of such a living which forms the essence of this song.
Not all people can travel by elephants and only kings get to enjoy such benefits. this is because to feed and maintain an elephant is not a joke and only kings can do it,
that too if an elephant falls under the rough category then it is even more difficult to control and people would be afraid to go anywhere near. Elephants in Guruvayoor are a special breed and generally rogue elephants are tied by iron chains to control them.
Such elephants are not easily controlled but kings pay mahouts (keeper and
driver of elephants) to control such elephants which will allow them to have a ride. People who see kings on such elephants will be astonished by this feat and they will pay special honours to the king.
The elephant when not ridden by the king is generally tied to a pole. To lead such a life and maintain elephants and servants a king needs a lot of wealth.
Kulasekara Azhwar rejects all such royal living that comes with all comforts. This is because these comforts
There is every chance even for the king of kings who rules all the worlds to fall down. Even the great king Dasaratha who had no enemies fell a prey to Kuni's trickery. Even the mighty Ravana was brought down by Rama with the assistance of a group of monkeys. Such kings might beheld in high esteem by ordinary people who respect him for his power. Even kings have helped Indra to come to stay in this earth. but then it is with a selfish motive that the kingshave done that. Even a high revered king if defeated,
is rejected by his very own people who adored him. Even then a king is just a title for a ruler and this is applicable even in brahmas world. Lord alone does not have any titles. Hence there is no comfort in being a might king as well, Dhridasura, who was an demon prays thus " I dont want to rule the three worlds, dont want any moksha and is sufficient to be the
Lords bhaktha" . Kulasekara there says that he does not even want to be a fragrant
shenbaga tree but is sufficient to be a useless tree which he feels is sufficient enough to be
on the sacred tirumala hills.
Ramanuja says that bhagawan is the Lord of everyone and at the same time the Lord is personal to him as well. such a Bhagawan showers His grace from the seven hills in tirumala.and protects people. Tirumala hills are very sacred because it is holding up the Lord who is responsible for everything. Devaki, Yasoda , Kausalya are revered because they gave birth to the same Lord who is responsible for everything else in this universe. Hence by accommodating the Lord the Venkata hills (tirumala hills) it automatically attains reverence. Hence even a tree on the sacred tirumala hilss that is no real use itself is a blessing.
Many things in this world appear, live and disappear and nobody really bothers about their genesis or their destruction. Hence the Azhwar says that even a useless tree that is begins its sprout and germinates in tirumala itself is sufficient enough for happiness. Sometimes we observe that when lightning strikes a coconut or a palm tree, it loses everythingbut its bark stands with is practically a useless one. but a tree in such a state in tirumala hills is considered useful and sacred. Azhwar also reaffirms to be even a useless tree in tirumala requires accumulating good karma over millions of births. Kulasekara Azhwar rejoices and declares that it is sufficient if we get associated with these sacred hills and that by itself is a blessing. we must realise the intensity of the Azhwars bhakti here. As human beings we dont daily think about tirumala hills but imagine the intensity of bhakthi that Kulasekara Azhwar had which made him declare that he will think about the Lord even if he is a tree on the sacred hills.
Let us all not waste any further time and pray to the Lord of Tirumala and do bhakthi like Kulasekara Azhwar. It is up to each one of us to decide, as time ticks, to reach out for real happiness and peace.
Kulasekara Azhwar takes his level of bhakthi toyet another level of intensity and we shall see that in next month

An experience of a disciple in his own words
SRI GURUBHYONNAMAHA
Radhekrishna!!
Radhekrishna!! Actually I have a complaint with GurujiAmma!! She never allows me to offer anything to Her without giving much much more in return. Only you people (Guruji Ammas disciples) can understand my problem. Whereever I go or what ever I see, feel as if it belongs or a thing to be offered to PoojyaSri Sri Amma. For her karunai I always want to offer my services to Her. Though they may not be bigger, as elders say yathaasakthi ( it is also She who is making it possible for me, for She always wants her disciples to be happy).
As my health was poor for sometime I was unable to serve her and do lot of sathsang work. I took some of the Krishna Jayanthi notices to distribute at places whereever I go, say like banks and other institutions, where I go on my personal work. I went to a place on some other work and opposite to that, RR Sabha, in which four years back Gurujis upanyaasam was held and the one of the officials there had very much enjoyed the upanyaasam, was praising Guruji.
I went there to give the patrika of Krishna Jayanthi. She recognized me immediately and enquired about Guruji and Guruji Amma. When we were talking about our Radhekrishna Sathsang she asked whether my daughter can give performance for Navarathri celebrations as my daughter had her salangai pooja on the same day of Gurujis upanyaasam and she saw her dance on that occasion. This was an unexpected and big opportunity for my daughter and I was tongue tied. More than that when I asked her one invitation to give to GurujiAmma, they gave me 50 cards to be distributed to our friends!!
After that there were many problems like lack of time for the practice and dance teacher was suspicious because my daughter couldn't commit one and half an hour for practicing. I told my daughter that she can manage as usual with the grace of GurujiAmma. Then came the misunderstanding with her dance teacher, and she (teacher) cancelled her appearance on the stage. The main item varnam was choreographed for both of them to dance together my daughter was very much upset with all these events. This happened four days before the performance. I took her and told everything to Guruji Amma. She told her to do the performance without fear and assured that She will be there on that day. The program went on very well and we were blessed with the presence of GurujiAmma, GurujiAppa, Guruji and Guruji gave a kutti upanyaasam while she was getting ready for the next part of the dance.
In between a small but big incident for us happened. When she finished her varnam and came back, Ramya was crying because she just managed it
without practice for the last minute changes. We were consoling her and trying to get her ready for the remaining part of the performance. As we were very
tensed by her hysteric cry, Guruji suddenly appeared and consoled and blessed her. I never saw GurujiAmma or Guruji standing away and watching us when we were in trouble. They go into it more than us and bring us out of the problem.
![]()
![]()
This reminds me of one more latest incidents. My husband had some problem because of food
poisoning. (He is in East Africa) . He called me and asked for some medicine from Guruji Appa. Appa told him what to take and meanwhile it seems that he was not able to eat anything solid and he took only some oral rehydration. By evening from his voice I came to know he was very weak. I was very much worried about his
condition and slept very late praying to Guruji Amma. Suddenly I heard our windows are making lot of noise as if there is a storm outside. I could not understand because we put latch to all windows. I thought may be I was dreaming and tried to go back to sleep. I heard the noise again. Though I was a bit afraid,
got up and checked all the windows. They all were tightly secured. With my previous experience with Guruji Amma waking me up from the sleep for emergencies, I have become alert and called my husband. He was not picking up. I tried all lines.
After trying for half an hour in vain, I was really worried about him. I called the night manager, Mr.Kato, of the hotel and explained about the condition of Mr.Shivakumar and requested him to go and check, if necessary asked him to open the suit with the help of house keeping people. After some time my husband sent me a message that he was sleeping for almost six hours from six in the evening and when the hotel people called him, with great difficulty he came out of the sleep and he consumed four glasses of juice with glucose and six biscuits!! The next day he was getting better with homeopathy medicines and asked our House girl to prepare some boiled rice kanji for him and need not cook anything for him.
When he had the kanji he said that it was really heavenly as if filled with Guruji Ammas karunai. Also he added another episode with trembling voice with happiness. He had nice sleep and by evening he felt very hungry and went to kitchen with great difficulty to prepare something, cursing himself for telling maid not to cook any thing. To his surprise he saw rice and nice rasam ready for him to eat. He swore that it was not of the same taste like everyday preparation. He was not able to control himself at the kindness of GurujiAmma. Isnt it true that Bhagavan always keeps everything ready and always with his devotees taking care of them supplying every thing they want like Kalpavriksha!! Radhekrishna!!

Bhagawan takes avatar in each and every yuga mainly to safeguard the bhaktas and then to destroy the rakshasaas who trouble his bhaktas. So Bhagawan comes to this bhoomi from paramapadham just for the sake of his bhaktas. Hence we come to know that bhaktas are very important to the Lord. Whenever Bhagawan comes to rescue his bhaktas, the other fellow people also reap the benefits.........Our guruji amma gives high respect to all the bhaktas.
